Carpet Care
Most residential carpet doesn't actually wear out. Instead, it looses
it's original appearance and luster long before it's fibers begin to
wear down.
Just how long your carpet will look good depends on a number of factors
including carpet construction, household traffic patterns, exposure to
soiling and stains, and of course, maintenance.
Scotchgard protection, applied at the mill and bonded onto the individual
carpet fibers, will protect against staining and soiling, and help keep
your carpet looking good longer.
In addition, proper care and cleaning can make a big difference in retaining
your carpet's beauty over many years of regular use. So, to get the most
out of your investment, here are four things you should know about carpet
care and maintenance.
1. Use entrance mats
Place mats inside and outside entrances to trap soil before it can be
tracked into your home. Soil is the greatest threat to your carpet's
appearance.
2. Vacuum regularly
The most important thing you can do to keep your carpet looking great
is to vacuum it thoroughly and frequently, particularly in high traffic
areas. Vacuuming helps remove dirt particles which dull the carpet's
appearance.
3. Blot up spills immediately
Immediate attention to spills and spots will make removal easier. Always
blot the area being cleaned. Never rub, scrub, or brush and use a white
towel.
4. Clean periodically
Regular cleaning and maintenance are needed to keep your carpet looking
great year after year. During everyday use, soil clings to carpet fibers
and dulls carpet beauty. These particles accumulate and dulls the carpet
beauty. these particles accumulate and dull the carpet's original color.
- We recommend cleaning at least every 12 months - sooner if you see
a pathway. Manufacturers require professional cleaning every 12 - 24
months to be eligible for your texture retention warranty.
Unfortunately there are stains that can't be removed. These are acid
toilet bowl cleaners, acne medications, alkaline drain cleaners, chlorinated
bleaches, hair dyes, iodine, insecticides, mustard with tumeric, plant
fertilizers, and stains of this nature. They cannot be removed as they
have permanently altered the carpet's color. Call us, because most likely
the only solution is to insert carpet from a closet or some other area
into the area where the spot was cut out.
